The Hottest Wedding Favor Trends for 2012

Before you jump into great favor ideas, I want to thank Melanie at Favors by Serendipity for putting together today’s posting and sending such great pictures for us. We love what you ladies do and we appreciate you sharing.

Here at favorsbyserendipity.com, we’ve been seeing a pattern: certain themes are already super-hot among our 2012 brides and grooms. We’re loving it – this year seems to focus on originality, creativity and lots of fun color combos.

So what’s hot for 2012? Read on for the scoop:

1.      Sweets & Baked Goods. Mmm…foodie brides-to-be are going to love this theme as they choose cookies, gourmet candy-coated seeds and nuts, pastries, wedding brownies, chocolate fountains and even a chocolate or flavored coffees bar. Wedding offerings have never tasted so good!

2.      The Color Orange. Guru color company Pantone announced “tangerine tango” as 2012’s wedding color of the year last month, and we’re seeing orange everything – especially when it comes to wedding favors. Wrap your favors in orange ribbon, serve orange slices with the wedding cake, and decorate the chairs at the reception in big orange bows.

3.      Eco-Friendly Favors. Our brides seem to love the earth almost as much as they love getting married. (Kudos to our enviro-conscious brides and grooms.) Make your own eco-friendly wedding favors out of recycled materials. Choose paper rather than plastic. Give out seeds for locally grown, pretty flowers that are in season. Add natural dried flower buds, berries and twigs to photo frame give-outs and to your wedding favor packaging.

4.      Favor boxes and bags. Presentation is huge this year. Wrap it all up in a pretty box or bag. Muslin is a great choice for wedding favor bags. So is traditional netting in pretty colors. Add bows, flowers or lace for a delicate, pretty touch.

5.      Shabby chic. Sooo glad this is still in style for 2012! Check out etsy and artfire vendors for pretty, chic favors made by indie artists.

6.      Prince and princess themes. In April of 2011, Prince William made Kate Middleton his bride (and a princess) in what’s already being called the wedding of the decade. Later, Alfred Angelo came out with a gorgeous Disney Dresses collection. Between the two, every bride wants to be princess for the day at her 2012 wedding. Choose crystal “glass slipper” key chains, “glass coach” nick-knacks and gifts that feature castles or crowns.

Enjoy! It’s a great time to be a bride.
