Congratulations Melody and Shawn!

I want to wish all the best to Melody and Shawn, who were wed on September 10th at North Wood County Park here in central Wisconsin.

As you can see by the pictures, we had a lovely, golden autumn afternoon for the ceremony. The theme for the celebration was ‘the Roaring Twenties’ and I had a spectacular time admiring everyone’s costumes, as you can see.

The Bride was beautifully attired in a bronze evening gown with feather and beaded accents. Her Bouquet was untraditional, being made of artificial flowers formed from ribbons of very thin wood veneer and feathers, with pearl and Marcasite gemmed brooches added for a truly fascinating effect.

Shawn completely rocked his Old School Gangster pinstripe suit and I’m sure would have made Al Capone proud!

The couple had chosen to have a unification cross ceremony to emphasize their union; the symbolism being that the male is the protector (the outside frame of the cross) while the female (the ornate interior section) is that which fills their relationship and strengthens both. The base of the cross represents their love and faith being the foundation of their lives together, while three pins represent their love holding it all together for their lives. Melody found the ceremony and the cross was ordered online. I must say that I found the symbolism very powerful!

Their DJ played a lot of very fun Charleston music from the 1920’s, and it was all done in a wonderful spirit of fun and joy. The hats and feather boas gave everything the perfect light-hearted and effervescent attitude to make the night just right for a party.

Given the love and playfulness they put into their marriage, I can say with some confidence that Melody and Shawn are going to be happy for a long, long time. Congratulations, you two!
