Congratulations Kimberly and Greg!

All of here at Heartfelt Ministries would like to extend our best wishes to Kimberly and Greg who were married at Cedar Hill Farm in Markesan, WI August 13, 2011. Kimberly has a unique distinction as a bride that has made me cry at the beginning of the ceremony and not just at the kiss. And most of my grooms, including Greg, may give Kimberly the title of best bride ever since her gift to her new husband was a Harley.

Kimberly and Greg chose some great elements for their ceremony. They wanted theirs to be truly about them. For a reading, they chose to have a friend read “The Little Yellow Leaf” by Carin Berger. A cute story about a leaf that would not leave the tree in the fall until it was ready and found a partner to go with. A very appropriate story for this couple. For their vows, they chose to say them in the back and forth format so it was more like a conversation between the two of them.

Instead of a unity candle or a sand ceremony, Kimberly and Greg decided to perform an Irish bell ringing ceremony. According to Irish tradition, a friend gives the couple a bell for their wedding day and the couple places it in a place of honor when they arrive home. If the couple fights, the bell is rung to scare away evil spirits and to call off the fight without placing blame. This is a very nice tradition and one that we really enjoyed being introduced to.

To conclude the ceremony, Kimberly and Greg asked for the traditional Irish blessing. A fitting ending to a wonderful day.

After the ceremony, we were treated to a delicious dinner of organically hand raised pork and chicken provided by Bauman Natural Meats in Markesan. Unfortunately I can’t find a direct link, but I can’t put into words just how much better the meat was than the stuff we buy in the grocery store. It probably also helps that the meal was prepared over a barbeque pit rather than on a stove.

For desert we had a beautiful cake provided by Tamara’s Cakes in Appleton. We had chocolate swirl or lemon with raspberry filling and it was fabulous. The cake is a stump with the initials of the bride and groom “carved” into it. A very cute idea for a wedding cake.
Kimberly and Greg, thank you for sharing your day with us. We wish you a very happy and long life together.
