Congratulation Jamie and Amanda!

Jamie and Amanda were married on October 15, 2011 at Camp Alexander in Wisconsin Rapids in a beautiful outdoor ceremony. Unfortunately, our house photographer and tech guy, Zach Hunt was unable to come with us (he had a school project to do that day), so the pictures are rather scarce. I took them with my phone and only two survived.

If you have never been to Camp Alexander, it is a beautiful, wooded camp that is privately owned with log cabins to stay in and a large, log all purpose building on the site. The all purpose building has a huge deck on the back that over looks the Wisconsin River. That is where Jamie and Amanda held their wedding ceremony, but if you want an indoor location, the camp as the equivalent of a chapel on the grounds as well.

Jamie and Amanda have one of the most personal and funny engagement stories I have heard in a long time. Amanda, unknowingly, told Jamie to take an ordinary moment and make it into something special when he proposed, so he took her advice. One night, when Amanda took the dogs out for their nightly business, Jamie followed her and got down on one knee to propose. He thought that he kneeled in dog poo (luckily it was just wet grass) and had to check a few times to be sure he had not. It was the every day moment transformed into the beautiful and romantic.

Jamie and Amanda had their reception on site as well, and kept with the natural theme of Camp Alexander. Jamie is very handy and created several different centerpieces for the tables and the arch that is partially seen in the picture above.

Instead of a guestbook, the happy couple used quilt squares for all the guests to sign and leave a message of good wishes or a memory on. Later these will be a made into a quilt and passed on to future generations. For their favors, Jamie and Amanda gave everyone a s’more kit for everyone to use at home and remember their wedding day.

After dinner, cupcakes were served instead of a traditional cake. Jamie and Amanda stayed in the fall theme with flavors like spice apple and pumpkin. The cupcakes were provided by Sweet Temptations Cupcakerie in Plover. Since Sweet Temptations is so close to my home, we stop and pick up cupcakes frequently and I can highly recommend Roxanne’s baking. Sweet Temptations is open M-Sat and will deliver your cake, cupcakes, or other desserts to the location of your wedding or other special event.

Congratulations Jamie and Amanda. We loved working with you and wish you every happiness in your lives together.

Love you all!

Rev. Kelly
