A Willow Pond Wedding

Congratulations to Amy and Jason on their May 12, 2012 wedding at Willow Pond Bed and Breakfast in Weyauwega, WI. Their ceremony took place in front of the beautiful gazebo nestled next to the pond shaded by willow trees with their reception taking place in the Wisconsin chic barn on the grounds.

Amy is a wedding and family photographer in the Neenah area and Jason is a tech wizard. It was a delight and a joy to work with this couple and help them make their wedding day dreams come true.

Amy’s and Jason’s ceremony began with with a family support of marriage. Instead of the more traditional “giving of the bride”, all of their parents stood and promised to love them, allow them to be free to discover who they are as a couple and to support them through life. Then Amy and Jason continued their ceremony by honoring their parents with calla lilies, which mean to honor, love, and respect. This was a very appropriate gesture, especially considering that Amy and Jason were married the day before Mother’s Day.

Then Amy and Jason honored each other by recognizing the gift that each others’ hands are to them. As people we emphasis our meanings with our hands when we speak, we work with them, and we show we care with a hug or a simple caress. Followed by a very personal sharing of the thoughts and feelings that were in their hearts and on their minds before exchanging vows and exchanging rings.

Before their ceremony ended, Amy and Jason lit the unity candle, which unfortunately didn’t stay lit due to the wind. Thank goodness this spectacular couple had a sense of humor about it and just rolled with Mother Nature’s plan for the day.

After the ceremony, Amy and Jason entertained their guests with hors d’ oeuvres and champagne on the lawn, followed by dinner and dancing in the barn. In place of a guest book, Amy and Jason opted to use a Wishing Tree. This is where the guests put their wishes on a hanging card on a tree branch so that Amy and Jason can keep those wishes with them always.

We were fortunate to work with Amy and Jason and help them create a beautiful wedding ceremony that reflected the love they feel for one another, honored their families, and brought them together in marriage. We were equally fortunate to be able to help Amy and Jason ensure all their family could attend by moving their originally planned wedding up a few months. When circumstances like theirs arise, we are as flexible as possible with our couples, especially to help ensure that everyone who wants to be there is able to attend.
